“Let me be very clear: being a front-runner is not a defense against serious allegations. It is not a shield from investigation, nor is it a justification for violating the Constitution,” wika ni Adiong, na tumataydong chairman ng House Ad Hoc Committee on Marawi Rehabilitation and Victims Compensation Chairman.
Popularity is not immunity,” dugtong ng Mindanaoan lawmaker.
“Una, wala pong namilit sa amin pumirma, hindi po nabayaran ang mga members ng House na nag-affix ng kanilang signature in support of these verified complaints at number two, hindi po totoo na itong sinabi sa Constitution na kung mayroong talagang legal basis of violations, high crimes that constitute betrayal of public trust against enumerated officers under the Constitution na impeachable officers ay hindi nangangahulugan po na we look at it on a political lens,” wika ng kongresista.
“That nobody has the right to say that the Constitution, Article 11 is just there simply to be abused by anybody for the purpose of preventing anyone from ever seeking any offices in the coming and in future elections,” aniya pa.
“For her to claim—without a shred of evidence—that we were paid off to do our constitutional duty is an insult to every member of the House of Representatives. We signed the impeachment complaint because we believe in accountability—not because we were bought. This institution is not for sale,” bulalas ng mambabatas.
“Vice President Duterte cannot claim political persecution while evading the substance of the charges—misuse of confidential funds, threats against the President, and questions over her involvement in state-sanctioned killings. These are matters of public interest, not partisan games,” dugtong niya.
“We impeach when the law is broken. That is our duty. That is our mandate under the Constitution. No one is above it—not even the most powerful public officials. Let the truth come out in the proper forum. We are not afraid of scrutiny—and neither should she be, if her conscience is clear,” pagtatapos ng kongresista. (ROMEO ALLAN BUTUYAN II)
