TULAD ng inaasahan, tuluyan nang nakopo ng mayorya ang liderato ng senado, matapos ihalal si Senador Sherwin Gatchalian bilang Senate President, sa bisa ng 13 boto.
Naganap ang pagpapalit ng liderato sa special session na pinatawag ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Bukod kay Gatchalian, nahalal din si Senador Vicente Sotto III bilang Senate President Pro Tempore, habang muling iniluklok si Senador Migz Zubiri bilang majority floor leader.
Si Gatchalian ang ikaapat na Senate President sa ilalim ng 20th Congress.
Samantala, inihalal ng minority bloc si Senador Alan Peter Cayetano bilang Senate minority leader.
“On behalf of the minority, may I manifest for the record that Sen. Alan Peter S. Cayetano shall serve as the minority floor leader, likewise the minority members present here,” wika ni Senadora Loren Legarda sa plenaryo.
“This is without prejudice to the final resolution of the case currently pending before the Supreme Court. And this manifestation is to ensure the orderly discharge of the functions of the whole Senate as an institution and the minority during the pendency of said case,” dagdag ng mambabatas
Dati nang nagsilbing minority floor leader si Cayetano — mula 2010 hanggang 2013 at mula Setyembre 2025 hanggang mahalal bilang Senate President noong Mayo 11.
