NAGPAMALAS ng pagkaumay ang Commission on Human Rights (CHR) sa walang patumanggang red-tagging ni dating National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) spokesperson Lorraine Badoy.
Sa isang pahayag, lubos na nadismaya ang CHR matapos paratangang komunista ang ilan sa mga prominenteng peryodistang kasapi ng National Union of Journalists in the Philippines (NUJP).
Partikular na tinukoy ng CHR ang anila’y walang puknat na red-tagging ni Badoy (kasama ang isang Jeffrey Celiz) sa programa sa television station na pag-aari ni dating presidential spiritual adviser Apollo Quiboloy.
Para sa CHR, nalalagay sa kompromiso ang kaligtasan ng mga mamamahayag sa tuwing kinakaladkad ni Badoy ang mga peryodista sa kilusang komunista.
“We are gravely alarmed by the new round of red-tagging by the hosts of an SMNI show. The practice exposes innocent individuals to intimidation, violence and unnecessary state surveillance,” ayon sa CHR.
“Let this be a warning against sweeping political generalizations that undermine human rights, reinforce inequalities, and introduce hostile divisions in the Filipino society.”
Kabilang sa mga pinaratangang komunista ang Philstar.com editor at NUJP Chairperson Jonathan de Santos. Ayon kay Badoy aktibo sa tiwanag niyang underground operation ng Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army – National Democratic Front ang nabanggit na mamamahayag.

Bukod kay De Santos, pasok din sa mga tinawag na komunista nina Badoy at Celiz si dating NUJP chairman Nestor Burgos ng Philippine Daily Inquirer.
“CHR reminds the state of its obligation to protect these freedoms as a state party to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, both asserting that all people have the right to freedom of expression, opinion, and information through any media.”
“When red-tagging is used to suppress these freedoms, it becomes a tool to shrink civic space,” dagdag pa ng komisyon.
