FORMER OMBUDSMAN, TARGET PALAYASIN SA GSIS

NAMUMURO malaglag sa pwesto bilang trustee ng Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) si dating Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez matapos maglabas ng posisyon ang pamunuan ng naturang ahensya.

Ayon kay GSIS President at General ­Manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso, hindi kwalipikado si Gutierrez. Ang dahilan – di naman umano miyembro ng GSIS ang dating Ombudsman nang italaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. bilang GSIS Board na kumakatawan sa legal profession noong siya ay i-appoint noong Abril 2023.

Sa isang sulat kay ­Executive Secretary at da­ting Supreme Court Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, ipinaalam ni Veloso ang resulta ng pagsusuring ginawa ng GSIS bunsod ng reklamo laban kay Gutierrez.

Aniya, ang reklamo ay ipinadala sa pamamagitan ng isang anonymous email kung saan inilahad ang hindi pagtalima ni Gutierrez sa mandatory qualifications na nakasaad sa GSIS Charter (RA No. 8291) ng hirangin ni Marcos sa GSIS Board.

“I respectfully submit to you the findings of the Go­vernment Service In­surance System (the ‘GSIS’) in relation to a whistleblowing complaint, which claimed that Trustee Ma. Merceditas Gutierrez failed to possess the mandatory qualifications required by the GSIS Cha­rter (RA No. 8291) when she was appointed to the GSIS Board.”
