KINONDENA ni Senador Christopher “Bong” Go ang pagpuntirya ng water cannon ng Chinese Coast Guard sa barko ng Pilipinas na nagde-deliver ng supply Ayungin Shoal noong Biyernes.
“As vice chairman of the Committee on National Defense, hindi lang po nakakabahala kundi atin po itong kinokondena,” sabi ni Go.
“This brazen behavior in our territorial waters is not only a blatant disregard of international maritime laws but also a direct challenge to the sovereign rights of our nation,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Sinabi ng National Task Force-West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) na muling hinaras ng Chinese Coast Guard and Maritime Militia ang Philippine resupply ships patungong Ayungin Shoal na BRP Sierra Madre outpost.
Nagsagawa ang tropa ng China ng delikadong taktika kabilang ang pagbubuga ng water cannon sa M/L Kalayaan supply vessel.
Sa kabila ng pananakot, natapos ng barko ng Pilipinas ang misyon.
Nagprotesta ang Philippine Embassy sa Beijing at Department of Foreign Affairs sa Chinese Foreign Ministry at hiniling ang pag-alis ng Chinese vessels sa Ayungin Shoal na bahagi ng Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone.
Sinabi ni Chinese Coast Guard spokesperson Gan Yu na sinunod nila ang barko ng Pilipinas ng naaayon sa batas.
Gayunman, kinontra ito ni Go.
“How can they speak of the rule of law while simultaneously violating international norms and the sovereign rights of other nations by putting Filipinos’ lives at risk with their bullying tactics,” tanong ng senador.
Nauna na ring kinondena ni Go ang agresibong aksiyon ng Chinese Coast Guard vessel sa West Philippine Sea, matapos banggain ang barko ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)- resupply boat na Unaiza noong Mayo 2 at Oktubre 22.
