GANAP nang isinumite ng House Secretary General sa Office of the Speaker ang kauna-unahang impeachment complaint laban kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Ayon kay House Secretary General Atty. Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, simula na rin umano ang pagsisimula ng internal process alinsunod sa constitutional mandate ng Kamara.
“Pursuant to established procedure, the Office of the Secretary General has transmitted the verified impeachment complaint to the Office of Speaker Faustino ‘Bojie’ G. Dy III for appropriate action,” pahayag pa ni Garafil.
Paliwanag ni Garafil, naisakatuparan na ng kanyang tanggapan ang aspetong administratibo batay sa probisyong nakapaloob sa 1987 Constitution, gayundin sa House rules at long-standing protocol sa impeachment process.
“Upon receipt of any impeachment complaint, the Office of the Secretary General ensures that the document is properly entered, recorded and forwarded to the proper office, emphasizing that the initial step is meant to preserve order and due process,” dugtong ni Garafil.
Sa ilalim ng umiiral na panuntunan, may 10 araw si Dy para magpasya kung isasama sa Order of Business ng mababang kapulungan ang verified impeachment complaint na idinulog ni Atty. Andre de Jesus noong Enero 19 at inindorso naman ni Pusong Pinoy Partylist Rep. Jett Nisay.
Sa sandaling paboran ni Dy ang pag-usad ng impeachment complaint laban sa Pangulo, may tatlong session days ang Kamara ipasa sa House Committee on Justice ang reklamo para naman sa pagtatakda ng pagdinig. (ROMER R. BUTUYAN)
