KUNG ang Kamara lang ang masusunod, hindi dapat bumaba pa sa P292.9 bilyon ang angkop na halagang ilalaan para sa sektor ng agrikultura para tiyakin ang malawak na suporta sa mga magsasaka at mga mangingisda.
Pasok din sa naturang halaga ang rural infrastructure at mas pinaigting na farm mechanization program.
Ayon kay House Appropriations chairperson Rep. Mika Suansing, sa House approved version ng 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB), dinagdagan ng P53.8 bilyon ang naunang hinihinging pondo para sa agriculture cluster, bilang patunay sa adhikain nitong mapatatag ang food security at rural development programs.
“Of this amount, P10 billion is provided for the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk, which is expected to benefit around 1.43 million farmers and fisherfolk,” wika ng kongresista.
“A substantial portion of the additional funding was directed to agricultural infrastructure. With P35.5 billion added by the House, total funding for the construction and rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads and irrigation systems will reach P74.5 billion under the House version of the GAB,” dugtong pa ng mambabatas.
Ani Suansing, nakapaloob din sa House version budget ang paglalaan ng P30 billion sa ilalim ng Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) para sa farm mechanization at probisyon para sa iba pang production para sa mapataas ang produksyon ng agrikultura at mapababa naman ang production costs.
“In addition, the House provided P1 billion for crop insurance to protect farmers against losses, P2.4 billion for the construction of deep-water ports to strengthen agricultural logistics, and P200 million for the implementation of the New Agrarian Emancipation Act,” paglalahad pa niya.
“Lahat po ito ay para matulungan ang ating mga bayaning magsasaka na bumaba ang kanilang gastusin at mapataas ang kanilang ani at kita.” (ROMER BUTUYAN)
