SINEGUNDAHAN ng isang partylist congressman ang pananaw ng Pangulo hinggil sa nalalapit na pagtatapos ng Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) probe at ipasa na sa Office of the Ombudsman at Department of Justice (DOJ) ang responsibilidad sa pagsasampa ng kaso laban sa mga sinasabing sangkot sa flood control anomalies.
Ayon kay House Committee on Higher and Technical Education Chairperson at Tingog partylist Rep. Jude Acidre, ang desisyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ay nakabatay na rin sa ulat ng ICI sa mga naging pagdinig at pagbusisi sa iba’t-ibang dokumentong basehan ng pinal na rekomendasyon, taliwas sa patutsadang wala naman umanong silbi ang pagbuo sa nasabing fact-finding commission.
“All conclusions on the ICI were based on the work completed and the records already reviewed. The decision was grounded on findings, not percentages, and it does not preclude further action should new evidence surface,” wika ng House panel head.
“Claims that the administration is avoiding the truth are unfounded. The President has consistently maintained that accountability must be based on evidence, not speculation or political pressure.”
Kasunod ng pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos, susunod aniyang hakbang ay ang saluhin at gampanan ng Ombudsman at DOJ ang nakaatang na mandato partikular ang pagpapanagot sa mga sangkot sa katiwalian sa iba’t-ibang infrastructure projects ng gobyerno, base na rin sa resulta ng ICI investigation.
“At this point, it is important to let the Office of the Ombudsman and the Department of Justice do their constitutional and legal work,” paglalahad pa ng Tingog partylist solon.
Kumpiyansa naman si Acidre sa kakayahan ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla, na tangan umano ang malakas na suporta ng taumbayan dahil sa seryosong pagsusulong ng kaliwat-kanang corruption cases.
“Ombudsman Remulla enjoys high public support and has shown that he is firm and serious in the fight against corruption. If there is evidence, the proper institutions remain open to act.” (ROMER R. BUTUYAN)
