
SINABI ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na nag-usap umano sila ni Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta tungkol sa posibilidad na isuko ang puganteng si dating Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr., na nahaharap sa kasong murder.
“I just told him that we will be filing the necessary information, the necessary letters, to his office to inform them formally of the charges pending against Mr. Teves,” sabi ni Remulla sa Pacific Island nation leader nitong weekend.
“The duties of rendition are there and that under the United Nations agreement on terrorism, there is a duty for member-states to render unto the prosecuting country the body of any terrorist so that he may be held for trial,” dagdag pa nito.
Kinasuhan si Teves sa pagkamatay ni dating Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo at limang iba pa sa mismong compound ng bahay nito sa Pamplona town noong Marso.
Buwan ng Setyembre nang maglabas ng mandamiento de arresto ang Manila City Regional Trial Court laban kay Teves at tatlong iba pa dahil sa Pamplona killings habang sa Negros naman ay nagpalabas din ng arrest warrant sa mga kasong pamamaslang na naganap noong 2019.
“It was on October 4 that the arrest warrant for the 2019 murders has been issued. So there are a lot actually a lot of outstanding warrants against Congressman Teves,” sabi ni Remulla.
Sinabi sa mga report na nagtatago si Teves sa naturang bansa matapos tanggihan ang special asylum status na hiniling nito.
