SA gitna ng pagtuligsa ng mamamayan sa mga mambabatas na dawit sa maanomalyang flood control projects, pormal nang binawi ng bagong pamunuan ng Kamara ang travel clearance ni Ako Bicol partylist Rep. Zaldy Co.
Sa isang kalatas, binigyang lang ni House Speaker Faustino Dy III ng 10 araw para lumutang sa Kamara ang dating chairman ng House Committee on Appropriations.
“Your existing Travel Clearance for your personal trip is hereby revoked effective immediately,” saad sa direktibang may petsang Setyembre 18.
“This revocation is issued in the paramount interest of the public and due to the existence of pressing national matters requiring your physical presence,” dagdag ng bagong lider ng mababang kapulungan.
“Your immediate return is necessary to address the aforementioned matters with urgency,” aniya pa.
Babala ni Dy, mapipilitan ang Kamara patawan ng parusa ang hindi pagtalima ng kontrobersyal na kongresista.
“Failure to comply with this directive within the prescribed period shall be construed as a refusal to subject yourself to the lawful processes of the House of Representatives and may result in the initiation of appropriate disciplinary and legal actions.”
Sa ilalim ng umiiral na panuntunan ng lehislatura, kabilang sa parusang pwede ipataw ng Kamara ang suspensyon — o pagsibak sa pwesto, tulad ng nangyari kay former Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. na kasalukuyang nakakulong bunsod ng santambak na kasong kriminal kabilang ang pagpaslang sa kalaban sa pulitika. (ROMER R. BUTUYAN)
