MATAPOS ang tatlong dikit na dagdag-presyo sa buwanang singil, bahagyang tinapyasan ng Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) ang bayarin ng mga residente at negosyo sa Metro Manila at karatig probinsya.
Ayon sa Meralco, inaasahang mababawasan ng P2.13 ang mga pamilyang kumokonsumo ng 200 kWh kada buwan, habang P2.71 naman para sa mga nakakaubos ng 300 kWh. Mahigit P3.00 naman ang inaasahang mababawas sa mga Meralco subscriber na umabot sa 400 kWh ang konsumo at P2.39 naman para sa 500 kWh usage.
“It’s at least a pleasant situation for consumers, given that we were perhaps initially expecting an upward adjustment given that the refund has been completed. But the lower generation costs more than made up for it and that is why we are experiencing a lower electricity bill for consumers for February,” pahayag ni Meralco corporate communications chief Joe Zaldarriaga.
Gayunpaman, muling nakaamba ang dagdag-singil sa pagpasok ng tag-init, ayon pa kay Zaldarriaga.
“Historically, once the summer months kick in, that is when demand starts to rise and historically once that occurs, then there is really pressure for prices to go up as well.”
