HINDI kumbinsido ang pamilya ni Percy Lapid na pumanaw sa sakit sa puso ang isa sa dalawang prime suspects sa likod ng pamamaslang sa mamamahayag.
Ayon kay Roy Mabasa, kapatid ni Lapid, higit na angkop ang pagsusuri sa tunay na ikinamatay ni former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Deputy Security Officer Ricardo Zulueta na sinasabing binawian ng buhay bunsod ng cardiac arrest.
“We would like the [Philippine National Police] to ascertain the real cause of his death since he was originally tagged as one of the masterminds in the killing,” hirit ni Mabasa.
Marso 15 nang isugod di umano si Zulueta sa Bataan Peninsula Medical Center.
Agad naman tumugon si Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla kalakip ang direktiba sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon sa tunay sa sanhi ng pagpanaw ng dating BuCor official.
“Exert greater efforts, act swiftly, delve deep and uncover the truth by all means possible. This calls for action at the soonest possible time,” ani Remulla sa direktiba sa NBI.
“We are still looking into the veracity of these reports and will update the public as soon as we receive word from the NBI,” dagdag pa ng Kalihim.
Oktubre 2022 nang tambangan si Lapid sa lungsod ng Las Piñas.
Bukod kay Zulueta, kaladkad si former BuCor director general Gerald Bantag sa dalawang kasong murder – ang pagpaslang kay Lapid at isang Cristito Villamor na inginusong kasador ng arestadong hitman na si Joel Escorial.
Pasok din sa Lapid slay case sina Denver Batungbakal Mayores, Alvin Cornista Labra, Aldrin Micosa Galicia at Alfie Penaredonda.
Sa kaso ng pagpaslang kay Villamor, sinampahan ng asuntong murder sina Bantag, Zulueta, Labra, Galicia, Mario Germones Alvarez, Joseph Medel Georfo, Christian Dizon Ramac, Ricky Lamigo Salgado, Ronnie Pabustan de la Cruz, at Joel Alog Reyes.
Swak din sa kasong pagpatay sina Edmon Bacoto, Israel Dimaculangan, at isang nakilala lang sa alyas na Orly.
