PARA kay Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, walang legal na basehan ang suspension order na inilabas ng Office of the Ombudsman sa gitna ng nalalapit na halalan.
Sa isang pulong-balitaan, nanindigan si Garcia laban sa aniya’y anim na buwang suspensyon na ipinataw ng Office of the Ombudsman kaugnay ng kasong grave abuse of authority, gross misconduct, serious dishonesty, gross negligence, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service at paglabag sa Republic Act 6713.
“I am not stepping down… I will continue to serve the Cebuanos in the best possible way that I can within the bounds of law,” wika ng punong lalawigan.
Ibinahagi rin ni Garcia ang binabalangkas na liham para kay Interior and Local Government Sec. Jonvic Remulla. Layon umano ng naturang liham klaruhin ang legalidad ng suspensyon na ipinataw ng Office of the Ombudsman sa gitna tinatawag na “election period.”
“So, pending resolution of my query, I have decided to stay put in office and continue to serve as the governor of this great province of ours,” giit ng gobernador.
