SA kabila pa ng patuloy na pambabarako ng mga sundalong Tsino sa West Philippine Sea, walang plano ang gobyerno talikuran ang pakikipag-ugnayan sa bansang China, ayon mismo kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Pagtitiyak ni Marcos, hindi apektado ng ‘diplomatic relationship’ ng Pilipinas sa China ang usapin sa West Philippine Sea, na aniya’y patuloy na ipagtatanggol ng pamahalaan sa mapayapang paraan.
“Well, in the same way that we maintain our relationship with the US, we constantly consult with our allies and partners. We constantly keep our lines of communications open,” ayon sa Pangulo matapos makipagpulong sa mga lider ng Estados Unidos.
Paniwala ni Marcos, malaking bentahe para maiwasan lumala ang sitwasyon ang pagkakaroon ng direktang ugnayan kay Chinese President Xi Jinping maging sa iba pang mga Chinese officials hinggil sa ilang mga isyu sa West Philippine Sea.
“I suggested that we institute a system wherein we have a direct contact, one president to the other, and in that way, no matter if I cannot speak for example to President Xi himself, I have someone that I can pick up the phone and call who I know and I have confidence in making my message to the President. And this works, of course, both ways,” aniya pa.
“As I have said in my first SONA, our policy is to be friend to all and enemy to none.”
