KINASTIGO ng isang militanteng kongresista sa Vice President Sara Duterte sa umano’y pagbaluktot sa batas at mga umiiral na panuntunan para lang makapangurakot.
Sa isang kalatas, partikular na tinukoy ni Kabataan partylist Renee Co ang paggamit mga acknowledgement receipts para bigyang-katwiran ang waling paggamit ng kabuuang P612.5 milyong confidential funds na inilaan sa OVP at maging sa DepEd sa panahon ng panunungkulan ni Sara bilang Kalihim ng nasabing ahensya.
“Imagine thousands of acknowledgement receipts submitted at ni-isang official receipt wala. Madaming acknowledgment receipts ang hindi acceptable use of confidential funds,” ani Co.
“If there’s anything that has to be answered with regards kung paano na-observe ‘yung laws, ‘yung rules, yung regulations, it should be VP Sara Duterte,” dugtong ng Kabataan party-list solon.
Giit ni Co, hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa nasasagot ng mga abogado ni Duterte sa impeachment trial ang mga bulilyasong nasilip ng Commission on Audit (COA).
“So we look forward to later down the line yung counter-narrative or yung defense ng legal team ni VP Sara Duterte because as it stands, wala pa din tayong clear explanation bakit ganoon kadami ang anomalya sa isinumiteng audit reports for OVP and DepEd confidential and intelligence funds spending,” ayon pa sa House prosecution lady spox.
Ibinasura naman ni House impeachment team adviser at spokesperson, former Surigao del Norte Rep. and Gov. Robert Ace Barbers ang pahayag ni Duterte na may naganap na “bending of laws” sa paglilitis ng Senate impeachment court.
“Hindi ko alam kung saan banda ‘yung may bending of the law. Kung ang tinutukoy dito ay itong proseso ng impeachment, nagsalita na ang ating Korte Suprema at sinabi na ito ay sang-ayon sa ating Saligang Batas, sang-ayon din yung ginawang clarificatory hearing sa House of Representatives, so hindi ko matumbok kung saan ‘yung sinasabi na meron bending of the law,” mariing sabi ni Barbers.
“If ang kanyang tinutukoy ‘yung tungkol sa ebidensya na nilalatag ng prosecution, sa panig ng depensa sila dapat magpatunay na itong mga inaallege dito sa articles of impeachment ay mapapatunayan o madedebunk sa pamamagitan ng ebidensya na hawak ng depensa.”
Nakababahala naman para kay counsel for the prosecution Atty. Benjamin Tolosa Jr. ang panibagong pahayag ng bise presidente.
“This sweeping accusation necessarily casts doubts on the integrity of this constitutional process, not just the process itself but the Impeachment Court and of course ultimately the presiding officer who is responsible for the conduct of the proceedings and the rulings being issued,” ayon kay Tolosa.
“If you’re saying there’s bending of the law happening here– is she saying there are unlawful acts being done in these impeachment proceedings that are being tolerated by the impeachment court, by the presiding officer? I think that’s uncalled for,” giit niya.
Pahabol naman ni Barbers, sa halip na mag-akusa at sirain ang kredibilidad ng Senate impeachment court, mas makakabuti kung humarap na lamang sa paglilitis si Duterte at direktang sagutin ang mga alegasyon.
“Rather than issuing statements that are ‘attacking the process,’ the integrity of the process being done in the Senate now, it’s better that she appears and answer all these allegations. Kasi para tapos na, hindi na tayo humaba. ’Yun naman ang objective eh,” hirit niya.
Paalala naman ni Co, hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa nakukuha ang sagot sa kung nasaan ang confidential and intelligence funds ng OVP at DepEd gayundin ang paliwanag ni Duterte sa paglobo ng SALN nito.
“Doon po tayo bumabalik sa central questions kung bakit ba tayo nasa impeachment process to begin with. And I hope continuously that VP Sara Duterte engages these questions in good faith.”
