PARA kay House Speaker Martin Romualdez, isang tagumpay tungo sa pagbubuo ng isang inklusibong social insurance system sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagpapatibay ng Social Security System (SSS) na 10 porsyentong taunang umento sa pensyon ng nasa 3.8 milyong retiradong miyembro hanggang 2028.
Sa isang kalatas, binigyang pagkilala ni Romualdez ang inisyatibang ng pension hike nang hindi itinataas ang buwanang kontribusyong kinakaltas sa sahod ng mga manggagawa.
“The multi-year adjustments for SSS pensions are long overdue, but nonetheless a welcome and necessary development for members who have dutifully paid their contributions over the years,” wika ni Romualdez.
“This decision reflects President Marcos’ vision for a social insurance system that genuinely works for the people, especially our elderly who deserve dignity and support after years of contributing to our nation’s economy,” dagdag dagdag ng lider ng Kamara.
Aniya, ang itinaas na pensyon ay tugon sa matagal nang hinaing ng mga retirado mula sa pribadong sektor, mga propesyonal, at informal workers sa kakarampot na natatanggap nilang buwanang pensyon.
“It can be said that the old pension rates were a disservice to our elderly Filipinos. The directive of the President to raise these pensions is only the beginning of broader reforms that aim to make the SSS more compassionate, inclusive, and attuned to the realities faced by our retirees,” dugtong ng lider-kongresista.
Sa ilalim ng Social Security Commission (SSC) Resolution No. 340, series of 2025, makakatanggap ng 10% taunang pagtaas sa buwanang pensyon ang mga retirement at disability pensioners simula Setyembre 2025 hanggang 2027. Samantala, makakatanggap naman ng 5% taunang pagtaas ang mga survivor pensioners sa parehong panahon.
Sa taong 2027, aabot na sa P2,928.20 ang minimum retirement pension mula sa P2,200, habang tataas naman ang average disability pension mula P4,963.70 sa P6,606.68. Ang maximum retirement pension naman ay aabot na sa P29,464.68 mula sa dating P22,137.25.
Para naman sa mga survivor pensioners, tataas ang minimum na pensyon mula P2,000 sa P2,315.25, habang ang maximum ay papalo na sa P23,834.03 mula sa dating P20,200.
Ang mga pagtaas na ito ay alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 11199 o ang Social Security Act of 2018, na nagbibigay kapangyarihan sa SSS na baguhin ang mga benepisyo batay sa umiiral na kalagayan ng ekonomiya.
Samantala, hinimok naman ni Romualdez ang SSS na ipagpatuloy ang mga repormang sa pamamagitan ng pagpapabuti sa koleksyon at mas mainam na pamumuhunan.
“As the Philippine economy strengthens under President Marcos’ administration, we call on the SSS to take full advantage of this momentum and pursue reforms that will further enhance its financial standing—allowing it to provide even better services and benefits to its members,” ayon pa sa pinuno ng Kamara.
Aniya, ang layunin ay makabuo ng isang social protection system na nagbibigay ng komprehensibo at sapat na suporta—kasama na ang pensyon, maternity leave, sickness benefits, disability coverage, at unemployment assistance.
