SA halip na tanggalin, mas magiging mahigpit ang Department of Transportation (DOTr) sa pagpapatupad ng mandatory facemask policy sa mga pasahero ng Light Rail Transit (LRT), Metro Rail Transit (MRT), at Philippine National Railways (PNR).
Paglilinaw ni DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino, hindi kailanman inalis ang mandatory facemask policy sa mga tren ng LRT at MRT mula nang simulan ang implementasyon ng direktibang unang itinakda ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) noong kasagsagan ng pandemya.
Aniya, maiiwasan ang hawaankung mananatili ang polisiyang naglalayong tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng mga pasahero.
“Our medical professionals in the railways sector stressed that the risk of COVID-19 transmission remains present in our trains as they are enclosed spaces,” paliwanag pa ng opisyal.
“Security personnel deployed in all of our stations and trains will help ensure that the policy is strictly enforced,” dagdag ni Aquino kasabay ng panawagan sa publiko na maging mas maingat lalo pa’t muling nagbabanta ang hawaan batay sa mga datos ng Department of Health (DOH)
“Even if you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you can still become infected and potentially spread the virus to others,” aniya pa.
Hinikayat rin niya ang mga mananakay na magpaturok ng second booster shot bilang dagdag proteksyon laban sa nakamamatay na COVID-19.
“As explained by medical professionals, these booster shots are designed to help maintain the level of protection against the virus, especially as new variants emerge.”
