“IMPEACHMENT process is not Paris fashion week”
Ito ang patutsada ni Akbayan partylist Rep. Perci Cendaña kasabay ng pagtuligsa kay Senate President Francis pag-aantala sa pagsasagawa ng impeachment trial ng Senado laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Natatakot ba siya kay Sara Duterte?,” pasaring pa ng kongresista kasabay ng babala sa tinawag niyang “betrayal of constitutional mandate” at sa tangkang protektahan ang bise-presidente mula sa pananagutan.
“Hindi po ito Paris fashion week. Convening the Senate as an impeachment court is a solemn constitutional duty, not a seasonal accessory you put on or discard depending on the political weather, or one’s personal agenda. It is a uniform of duty worn whenever the constitution demands it,” giit ni Cendaña.
Paalala ng Akbayan partylist solon, sa nakaraang Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, sinasabing siyam sa bawat sampung Pilipino ay nais na harapin o sagutin ni Duterte ang kinakaharap na impeachment charges at linisin ang pangalan mula sa paratang ng katiwalian.
“The poll shows that 68% of respondents believe Duterte should definitely face the charges, with another 20% saying she probably should. In contrast, only 7% believe she should avoid the issue altogether,” sabi pa ni Cendaña
“The public wants a trial. Even the impeached vice president herself has signaled a willingness to face one. What’s stopping the Senate? Natatakot ba ang liderato kay Sara? The people demand transparency. Tama na po ang pateka-teka. Panahon na para magtrabaho,” dugtong ng mambabatas.
Kaya naman hinamon ng Akbayan partylist congressman kay Escudero, umaksyon at pasimulan ang Senate impeachment trial sa lalong madaling panahon.
“Convene the Senate as an impeachment court, swear in the senators as judges, and allow the prosecution to read the charges. Every day of delay sends the message that the Senate leadership is either afraid of Vice President Duterte, or worse, actively protecting her,” wakas na sabi ni Cendaña. (ROMEO ALLAN BUTUYAN II)
