BAHAGYANG makakahinga ang mga residente ng Metro Manila at mga karatig probinsya maglabas ng pahayag ang Manila Electric Company (Meralco) kaugnay ng di umano’y napipintonng pagbabawas sa singil na katumbas ng konsumo ng kuryente ngayon Abril.
Gayunpaman, nilinaw ni Meralco Corporate Communications head Joe Zaldarriaga na wala pang eksaktong rate kung magkano ang mababawas sa consumption bill.
“Indications point to overall lower power rate this month mainly for two reasons – we see both lower generation and transmission charges,” wika ni Zaldarriaga.
Nito lamang nakaraang buwan, nagpataw ng 2.29 sentimo kada kilowatt hour (kWh) dagdag-singil ang Meralco, dahilan para sumipa sa halos P12 per kWh ang singil sa power consumers.
“For generation charge, we see the cost of natural gas suppliers decrease partly due to lower liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices. Transmission charges, on the other hand, may have lower costs following the Energy Regulatory Commission’s order suspending the settlement in the reserve market that drove the significant increase in ancillary service charges in the March electricity rates.”
