Ni ESTONG REYES MAGANDANG balita sa mga hindi makangiti dahil sa sira, kundi man sungki-sungking ipin, sa sandaling pagtibayin ng Kongreso ang panukalang pagpapalawak ng Universal Health Care (UHC) kung saan target isama sa benepisyong pangkalusugan ang libreng pustiso at iba pang dental health services. Sa Senate Resolution 1021, hinikayat ni Senador Raffy Tulfo ang Senate Health and Demography Committee na pag-aralan kung paano maisisingit sa Republic Act 11223 (Universal Health Care) ang dental healthcare services. Paglalarawan ni Tulfo, kapos ang serbisyo sa ilalim ng naturang batas, kasabay ng hirit na isama sa benefit package ang pagpapagawa ng pustiso para sa mga maralitang Pilipino – bagay na maisasakatuparan lamang aniya kung aamyendahan ang RA 11223. “The current coverage provided by [the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth] under the UHC Act does not explicitly include dental health services and procedures, leaving a significant gap in access to essential dental care,” ayon sa resolusyon. “The inclusion of dental health services and the provision of dentures in the PhilHealth benefit packages is essential to promote preventive care, addressing oral health issues, and improving the overall health outcomes of Filipinos.” Paliwanag ng may-akda, napapanahon nang palawakin ang coverage ng PhilHealth.
