MATAPOS iligtas sa posibleng paglubog ng sinasakyang barko, nagawa pang tablahin ng mga tripulante ng barkong Tsino ang alok na pagkain, gamot at iba pang pangangailangan na dala ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Sa ulat ng PCG, hindi pinahintulutan makapasok sa Chinese vessel ang mga Pilipinong bantay-dagat para magsampa ng pagkain at tignan ang kalagayan ng mga lulang tripulante ng barkong nakadaong sa Tacloban Port.
“When we were about to get in the ship, one of the Chinese crew handed to me a phone to talk with someone on the line. We told the person by phone our intention to check the ship, but that person did not allow us,” ayon kay Lt. Commandet Ramil Montemar.
Enero 27 nang masira at tumagas ang langis ng Chinese vessel sa karagatang malapit sa Suluan Island sa Guiuan.
“We just brought rice, canned goods, water, and fruits since it is our duty to assist distressed individuals. Since we’re not allowed to enter, we just handed the food and they thanked us,” dagdag pa ni Montemar.
